I have Wi-fi on my new mobile, does this mean I can browse the internet for free when connected to a wi-fi connection.

If you're at home with your wireless router, or with someone else's wireless router, then as long as you enter the password (assuming security is enabled), you'll have free browsing.
However, you may find that many public wifi systems are paid-for. Some are free, but generally you have to pay for them, an hour at a time for example.
