There are many reasons why a browser may freeze. Use the Task Manager (right click on the task bar at the bottom of the screen and try to familiarise yourself with what processes are running on your machine and how much resource they are using. Look at the Applications, Processes, and Performance tabs. Experiment with sorting by different columns in the Processes window, so you can see what is using the CPU, memory, etc.
You can stop any process (e.g. iexplore.exe) or application by highlighting it and clicking the end process button. No process will refuse to close, although it may take a little while. Beware not to stop explorer.exe, which is basic to your running desktop and filesystem!
p.s. if it freezes at Answerbank, it is probably AB, not your browser!
