Me and the ex used to go up to Bury Market every few weeks and get loads of fresh good quality meat like chicken breasts and mince.
I suspect fish it the same (though he wouldn't eat fish).
Definitely some bargains to be had, especially if buying in bulk and towards the end of the day when they are trying to shift stuff.
We would freeze it in portions.
We also have Gabbotts Farm shops which sell off packs of meat pretty cheap, especially if you buy a few as most have offers like buy 2 or 3 for a fiver.
I find Wilkinsons great for bargains too generally.
Also the pound shops. There are quite a few in the city centre here and they have some bargains on some foods. I can get a big 2l bottle of Robinsons squash for 1, similarly tins of salmon.
Places like Savers tend to do cheap packs of rice and noodles and sauces as well as biscuits.
I have to say, my favourite chocolate bar is from Aldi with hazelnuts in it.
