I am just about to order the following laptop from PC World . It looks like a great deal to me, and they are just back in stock . Can anybody give me an opinion ? It's my first purchase of a laptop and I don't want to make a terrible mistake !

Overall, I see nothing wrong with that. Celerons are not the best processors, 40 GB is now a small hard drive, it does not have wireless and 1.5 hours is not a long battery life. However, it has a 2.93 GHz processor, a nice screen, lots of memory and a DVD burner! All swings and roundabouts IMO. I have a Toshiba laptop and it has been pretty good.

How about this one, slower processor but bigger HDD,WLan and Acers normally carry a 2yr guarantee.

I have just purchased a laptop from Dell at same price. If you are into games a dedicated graphics chip with its own 64 meg of memory would be better.
Yours is shared from system ram. It is not a bad spec for the money.
Again the Celeron 340 cpu is not as powerful as a full blown P4 chip. Dont expect to play the latest games at high res, and you should be OK.
