Dry Skin
28 Answers
Hi, basically my face is always dry and itchy. I've tried loads of moisturisers and none seem to work they make my skin itchier. I've also tried E45 and a hydrocortisone cream that worked for a while but i didnt like putting that on my face! I used to have bad excema when i was younger. Now im using a very cheap moisturiser which is asda's own brand and it doesnt cause me to itch but it is absorbed quickly and in the morning my face is dry again.
To cleanse I use cliniques comforting cream cleanser, I used to use the 3 step rule and had the mild facial wash but I felt that wasnt helping. The cream cleanser doesnt do much either though!
I have red dry patches on my face and was hoping someone would be able to recommend a good cleanser and a good moisturiser that i could try.
By the way i drink alot of water and have a fairly balanced diet.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for any replies

With being out in the open a lot, weather can affect your skin, so I use a Ph balanced soap and tepid water. It works for me, and since ss wondered what she could use to stop the dry patches on her face, I thought it might be worth a try - as well as to use Aqueous cream, which's even lighter than E45. The mention of good skin running in the family was merely to illustrate that we've been lucky, but that doesn't mean that you don't have to care for your skin to keep it that way - as I said.
Ice maiden, I do not find it appropriate it for you to tell me to 'stop being sillly'.
Whether or not summersoon has said that she spends a lot of time outside, everybody is very different with regard to skin care and you seem to think that you can give an authoritative, or even prohibitive answer with regard to her skin care.
Why do you not accept that everybody is different and that it doesn't really matter apart from the fact that she is in pain?
Please do not try to be confrontational with me as it is not in my nature, and I am sure that you and summersoon are aware that stress is a contributary factor to skin conditions.
I have only tried to be helpful so please do not call me silly, as my suggestions might actually be helpful

I used them several years ago when I developed facial eczema.
click on to 'facial care'....at bottom of first page is 'skin recovery creme' which is very soothing, and a little goes a long way. On the 2nd page -Tolerance Extreme no rinse cleanser , and Soothing creme are sold as a 21-day treatment.....this did wonders for my skin. It will take time.....but i found it to be worth the expense and time.
