Calling all Wild Birds....
16 Answers
....of the feathered variety! Today's the day you'll stuff your little beaks with as much food as possible so that you can disappear for the next 2 days. Yes, it's the annual birdwatch weekend & no doubt you'll be chirping with glee as the humans sit despondently ticking off a lone sparrow & 2 feral pigeons. We've rumbled you, so no fat balls next week! Birdy people, will you be taking part this year? :o)

Fortunately, Milly's a night owl, or should I say cat, so they'll hopefully be left alone to enjoy their meals in the garden!

I am a greenie. LoftyLottie1 can't get in here but she hasn't been banned. LoftyLottie2 had a lot of trouble as well, even though she has been accepted as a new user.
LoftyLottie1 answered a question on this subject yesterday but can't find it.
LoftyLottie1 and 2 are very sad and they are not trolls.
How can I prove it!!!

hi all, I see some of us are living in hopes that the birds will appear! :o) I've been disappointed the past couple of years with all the birdy no shows but I daresay I'll give it a go. Good luck with it!
oooh, I think you're going to have to undergo one severe grilling before you can come in here greenLottie...ok, favourite soap/soap character?

Just couldn't log in. This has happened many times before - and then hey presto I can log in again, even though nothing has changed with my computer. Nothing to do with being suspended or banned.
The first LoftyLottie will undoubtedly come back one day. We are identical twins by the way. Ha, ha two of me - that will please some people on here - not!!!
I want to put all my birds on Birdwatch weekend, but they only want the common garden birds!! Hmmmmph.

Relax they say on the RSPB WEBSITE, and have a cup of tea, and spend a nice hour watching the birds.
Some hopes
I have bird feeders on two sides of the house and gardens on three sides. Mr LL have been running around like demented idiots for an hour, even my eggs on toast were eaten on the move!!
Thank god that is over.
Between 10.15 and 11.15 - the most seen at any one time
Blue tit 6
Robin 2
Blackbird 8
Cole Tit 2
Starlings 5
Great Tits 3
Chaffinch 3 and quite a few in a tree!
Tree Sparrows - On the feeders 6, in the hedge - well goodness knows
Sparrows - 3 on the feeders and lots of noise from another tree
Dunnock 1
The collared doves were missing this morning. No other sightings!
Even the dogs and cat joined in, wondering what the hell we were doing. They thought it was a good game.
Phew!!

top right, beside the 30 balloon .......

I gave up this morning, all I had was the same handful of sparrows & greenfinches doing the hokey cokey so it wouldn't have been worth sending in. I'll try again tomorrow, thankfully I only need to peer through one window....might need to make a porthole in the muck first. :o)

Thanks Robinia. I'll submit them tomorrow. I hadn't noticed that balloon at all!
After all that running about, we went on a three mile walk with the dogs. I am done in now!!
I have had very few greenfinches this year - they like my neighbour opposite better!!
She never gets any starlings. I seem to have them all.
Strange things birds.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I have bought the DVD of Mama Mia and we are just about to watch it. xx

Welcome back, LoftyLottie!! I did my birdwatch this morning and all I have to say is, "The food is out, I've done the biz - I wonder where the birdies is??!!"
Ungrateful little blighters took their time in arriving (I even kept the cats in, much to their disdain!), but eventually I had quite a good turnout - even a brambling put in an appearance and I haven't seen one for over a week.
