Our Morphy Richards toaster has just (half) packed up.
One side element still toasts, but the other is quite dead.
Can I return it and ask for a credit note/refund?
I bought it in 1953 if that's any help.
I remember it was then, because all the streets were decorated for the Coronation.
I don't know, I shall have had two toasters in 56 years now, they weren't made to last were they?

Actually bez I've never pampered my kids, tho I know a lot of people do these days. If they were a bit off colour and angling to stay at home I'd walk them to school and say "get the nurse to ring me if you feel really bad!" they laugh about it now!

Terambulan:
My travels don't take me along the A40 these days, so I'm not sure whether the plane is still there.
The local schools banned conkers as being too dangerous.....poor, soft kids today missing out on fun of gathering/hardening & competing with conkers. Probably cause they cant tie a knot in the strings.
but amazingly, too many of them carry knives, T. How the times've changed in just a few years eh?
Well off to bed now, don't often venture into CB, but its been a pleasure, nite nite!
Times have certainly changed, Icey. When I was at school we were encouraged to carry (pen) knives!

Here's one (The Firestone Building) that was demolished (overnight) before it could be listed the next day.It was not far from the Hoover Building.

Night slinkycat.

Were you really Chris??? Well you just couldn't do that now, could you....but I wonder WHY? If kids are taught to use things for the job they're meant for, and to respect that they're probs using something dangerous, I can't see why things've suddenly turned for the worse? Don't parents teach their children about right and wrong any more?

I used to whittle under my desk!
You naughty boy!!! Lol.

Suppose you also carved your name onto tree trunks and desks, and swing seats and....oh - did I really do that too???

Mr. V - I can't accept that as a nice structure, from an architectural point of view - it seems too bland for my liking.
Shame to lose the Firestone building; that was on A40 to London. I used to do that route regularly for Makros.
Thanks for the picture, Mr V.

I love art deco and I get really annoyed when someone destroys it.
While I appreciate younguns fun - this is a monstrosity
