everytime i give my cat alot of fuss, particulary when i am in bed, she constantly sniffs my eye lids and my mouth then licks my eyebrows, eyes and round my mouth. is this usual with cats. another thing she does is butt my hand with her head, i think this is because she wants me to stroke her, but i dont know why she always wipes her face across mine. its very funny and affectionate tho :- )

oh and another thing that baffles me is when she starts purring she always starts pawing my cheecks and upper chest, like she's trying to give me a massage, does n e 1 elses cat do this and do u know y???

Agree with in a pickle - my cat paws me when she is relaxing - its a comfort thing like sucking a thumb - boy but it hurts sometimes.
All my cats have done all those things apart from licking my face.
One of them not only 'pawed' at me, but also actually sucked at my clothes as if sucking a teat. I ended up very damp.
She had no 'scruff' and her mother wouldn't look after her at all. We had her at 3 weeks old or she would not have survived.
The suckling continued until she died at 16 yrs old.
That was 11 yrs ago and I stil miss her - the cantankerous old puss.

If you turn over so your cat is pawing you on your back, its like a free massage - hurrah!

Right now, one of my cats is pawing me to try and get some attention. And the other one headbutts us too. We call him the goat-cat...

my kitty does those things too, he butts my hand with his head, sucks on my chest and give or take a few minutes he paws at us every morning at the same time like he is trying to tenderise us. he's the best and i wouldn't trade him for a million bucks.

Mine does that too!  Like the others said - the kneading/pawing is back to its kitten days, so it's a sign of affection because the cat feels safe and happy.

The reason why cats wipe their faces across things and people is because of the hormones they secrete from their cheeks.  This enables them to "mark" things with their scent.  Some vets now also think that when their cheeks are rubbed they release something like endorphins to make them happy.

me dog does this too!
