First of all is it very hard to find a counter signature for a driving licence? I had huge issues finding someone suitable to do my sons passport recently & I'm worried about going through all that again.

Also I had a provisional licence many years ago now and have since changed address several times and even changed my name. I lost the old one ages ago and Im not even sure which address I had it registered at. Would I be able to start a new application in my new name or would I have to go through another route, telling them Id lost my old one.

Any advice on how easy or difficult the proccess is would me greatly appreciated.

By 'someone suitable' you mean what exactly ?
On my provisional my sisters friend signed it and put occupation as 'shop asisstant'. I did at first think it would have had to be someone such as a doctor etc but obviously not.

It would be cheaper to get a renewal. I lost mine and forgot what adress I'd given or any details of the license so sent of as a new application. They wrote back asking if I was the same person as what was on their records and later refunded me the amount I'd sent and just charged me the renewal price.
