Hi Puddicat. I went back to using my maiden name before I was divorced. I noticed on the cheque I was given from my son's dad, that he had added his girlfriends name onto his account, but she was using my married name, before I had divorced him! I went to the bank and asked if this was correct. I was told that I could be known by any name I wanted to. I changed my bank details there and then, notified my work etc. This happened in Scotland. I think deed poll is England and Wales, but I'm not entirely sure. I was born in Scotland and lived there when I changed the name I used. I don't know if that makes a difference.
OK doke, Leg.
She'll definately be charged for changing her passport, because the government wouldn't let any chance of a quick buck to be passed over.
Regarding the drivers licence, what to do is tell her to tell the DVLA she's lost her licence, they supply you a new one free of charge (certinaly the last time I did it, maybe it's changed now) and she can change it when applying for the replacement.

If you have any children puddicat, and they are registered with your husband's name, to avoid any confusion you could make your name double barrelled, which is what my legal name now is, I am not hawkes, i am my maiden name first and then hawkes, that is on my bank account, electoral roll etc, everything actually. This is also so that in the future anyone researching out family history will find me as hawkes and as my maiden name, i have been using the two names since 1991 actually, even before i divorced, on the elctoral roll and census my husband was hawkes and i was my two names.
