Hi Ethel, further to your answer re desktop icons,I request clarification.
I have a Google toolbar with a star marked Bookmarks, as I have never used this,I'm not sure. Do you mean that in some way it replaces short cut icons on the desktop? Do you have a blank desktop showing only a wallpaper? Ron.

Hi Ron.

I was referring only to bookmarked webpages within the firefox browser. The other ABer appears to save her bookmarks to the desktop, which must surely mean she has to minimise her browser to access them.
It is entirely possible I misunderstood her altogether and got the wrong end of the stick.

My desktop has a few icons to open programs, nothing more.

I don't use the google toolbar, although I do have a small Google search box at the top of the page.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply Ehel, I think I also had the wrong end of the stick,it's all getting very confusing ( I put it down to my age) Poor old soul.

I hate that starred location thingy - I don't want the world and it's brother seeing everything that I look at - have just found out how to delete the lists! I only use the desktop icons for a day or so until the q in question has run it's course, obviously there are more permanent icons that I keep on desktop all the time, ie mail and AB!
