Saab bonnet badge

Just about to replace the bonnet badge on my Saab 9-3
2005.

Is there any helpful hints I can use to stop me damaging the bonnet ?

i have removed badges of cars in the past, and the best method i have found is to get some very thin twine or strong cotton and starting at the top of the badge get the twine just behind the badge and gently pull it repeatedly left to right in a sawing motion while pulling the twine downwards at the same time.

I should have said to remove the old badge, to replace, no problems.
