Postal votes should be allowed for elderly, immobile, disabled and those who will be out of the country for legitimate business or family reasons. Surely it is not too much to ask the general public to go down to the local school/village hall/community centre to put an x in a box. I know it is suposed to make turnout higher, but there will be arguments about this and it's going to go on for months, and the conspiracy theorists will have a field-day.
The best voting system is a simple one.
Today I've had a letter saying my application has been approved and a voting form will be sent out nearer the time.
As this letter has taken the authorities almost 2 weeks to send somehow I am not confidant of actually being able to vote before I go on holiday.
This will the first election I will have missed voting in since I was old enough to vote in 1972.
