my baby daughter turned the computer off at the wall she got the lockable socket cover open with the help of her big sister and switched the computer on/off lots of times, when we started the computer it came up with a screen saying safe mode etc, we selected the choices and everyone we clicked on showed a message saying because of a recent hardware change etc or because you restarted your computer we need to install the windows start up disc, thing is we haven't got a windows start up disc, this computer is 7 yrs old and the kids just use it for playing pc games on. how to i get a disc? any help would be welcome. x

more inof needed here. What O/System is it running, is it a home built PC or is it the likes of a Dell? Do you have the original dics that came with it?
small inaccuracy in your post ... it should read
the kids just used to use it for playing pc games on

you might get away with borrowing a friend's disc ... it may not ask for the serial (which I assume you also don't have?)

it's possible that somewhere on the Hard disc there is an C:\WINDOWS\i386 folder which contains the files you need

otherwise ... take smallest child ... place in basket ... take to local market ... see if you can get enough for a replacement disc

I like kids ... just never seem to be able to eat a whole one!
oops ... just look for i386
