Sorry don't know for sure but clarkeson is a big fan of Elgar - so might be one of his.

Sorry can't help anymore!

Polotoo

I thinl its the same song from the start of "the italian job" (Lamo driving through french alps)

The song is called "On days like these"

By Mat Monro

should have been more interested in the cars that's why it is called Top Gear
the only song i heard twice was by Brian Eno "An Ending" (Ascent)

ok 2 years after this thread started but on TONIGHT's top gear 8.25 BBC3 there was a slow piece of organ/sysnthesiser music, just a sequence of chords held for about 4 seconds each, as they ended the journey in France in the 3 super cars, used quite a lot for dramtic effect, duz anybody know what it was please ?
I believe the composer to be Brian Eno. The music was written for a National Geagraphic special back in the 80's. The album was called Apollo and the song is called An Ending (Ascent). If this is correct...let me know.

Artist: Brian Eno
Album: Apollo
Song: An Ending (Ascent)
