I am currently writing a novel and I am doing some research on taking an overdose with aspirin to the point where you do survive and not die from it.
I feel that this is a very sensitive subject and would very much appreciate anybody who can help me with my research.
Has anyone taken an overdose of aspirin and been extremely ill with it on the point of dying.
If so what happened and what did the doctors do.
eg, did they put you on an iv ,did you have to be resusitated,did any of your organs nearly fail,do you have any after effects now.
I am interested to know your feelings and how your family reacted also.
I really do appreciate that this must be hard to talk about,so I am so grateful to any who reply.

Thanks for the reply.
I have previously looked on this site,but the exact detail I need doesn't seem to be there.
I need to know everything about what would happen in this kind of situation but I did write most of the details down that I found on this site earlier today.
Just cannot seem to find much on the subject really.
I am researching cancer as well but don't know which kind as yet .It is all very complex and some of the details in the book involve a pregnancy so I need to get the details for that just right as well,as this will involve the cancer and dying to save the baby.

I'd suggest getting in touch with your local hospital or medical department in a University.  The latter might be a better idea, less likely to feel like you're pestering busy doctors :)

A friend of mine overdosed on a painkiller which contained asprin and I believe she had to have her stomach pumped and was on a drip to replace the fluid she lost.  I don't know the details because she's pretty sensitive about it.

The most common result of asprin overdose is salicylate intoxication, liver failure etc.  However the first step to correct asprin overdose is to pump the stomach.  This can be successful often, and unlike tylenol overdoses a successful stomach pump often results in no damage or permanent effects afterwards.  Whereas with tylenol,  a stomach pump is useless.
