unwanted spam

Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can stop unwanted spam? My ISP is Tiscali, and I am using windows 98. I have already paid for secure mail with Tiscali, but it's just as bad as ever.

You could try a spam blocker, also never type in your email address anywhere unless you trust its a friendly website, and always tick the "don't send me info" buttons when registering on sites.

Personally I find Outlook 2003 does a good job, however you may wish to use a tool like "mail washer" or something.

You could also change your email address, get a hotmail or gmail address or something.

Also you may find that your on somebody's address book who has a virus thats kicking out emails to everybody on there address book including you (generally this will be the case if your getting 40+ a day and they're all the same but from different addresses)

I get plenty of spam and usually just ignore it. However, recently I started to read some of them and noticed that quite a few have a link at the bottom where you can stop them sending you any more.

Obviously this doesn't stop it all, but it may help reduce it.

There is a school of thought that says that if you reply to spammers' e-mail you are only confirming that your e-mail account is active...

j2buttonsw : That's very true. The spammers that sent the emails will only send you much more than they did before because they know the email address is used. I've heard it all before

Thank you all for your comments. I never open emails or attachments if I don't recognise the sender ( I only have about 14  people I email to!

ost of them are in a foreign language and consist mainly of pages of question marks!!
