I have inherited what appears to be a first world 1 greatcoat, however can anyone help to validate its authenticity. Are there any obvious things I should be looking for apart from the buttons which are general service. The back lower vent has two buttons on it.

I can't help regarding the id of the coat, but if you take it to a shop that sells military paraphanalia, they should be able to help.
Try posting a question on:

Great War Forum. There is a dedicated section for WW1 uniforms. Remember to give a detailed description, not only of buttons, but style, content of labels etc.

Good Luck. Derek
