Someone asked about doing this a few questions down I know. But what I want to know is why would you want to install a full game?

If you do it then can you play the games without running the disc?

How much space do they take up?

TIA

So "in theory" I could rent a game and download it to my xbox and then send the disc back?

You install the game to your hard drive to reduce loading times and cut down disc noise and wear on the drive.

You still need the disc to play the game.

The games take up varying amounts of space depending on the size of the game.

The games Vibrasphere mentions are the Xbox Arcade ones and the original Xbox classics that are available through Xbox Live
load times are improved slightly but for me the main benefits are noise reduction and saving wear and tear on the disc drive.
