CD Burner not actually burning CD

I recently installed Microsoft's SP2 and now my computer is really slow, almost freezing inbetween switching windows and now when I try to burn a CD, I get the usual message saying burning in process, then complete but my disk is blank!!  I've clicked on properties on my CD drive and it definately is reading the burner as it has the recording tab there and CD recording is enabled.  Any ideas?  Many thanks

THIS is a Hotfix which might help...look on this link....

Sorry...that link doesn't seem to work...get Hotfix 883523. from Microsoft.It could be what you are looking for.
