Adobe flash player

I keep trying to view video clips on youtube and keep getting told I have Javascript turned off or I have an old version of adobes'flash player . When I try to load the latest flash player nothing happens!!
Can someone tell me what to do in non technical terms?

and click download. save the file to a place you can easily get to like the Desktop. once the download is finished all you need to do is double click on the icon and install the latest version
