My daughter is planning to get married this year and she was looking at the possibility of tieing the knot in Greece.
Does anyone know anything about getting married abroad?
Any help would be appreciated.

My brother got married abroad in 2007 and looked at a number of countries, they all had different requirements. Some wanted to you be in the town/resort for a week, some for 3 days. Some needed loads of documentation, some not much at all, some charged a fortune, some didn't.

In the end, they plumped for Malta. Mainly because they could be there for a week before getting married and so had time to check out the venue, get a bit of a tan etc.

Some places wouldn't hold the wedding until 2 days before the end of a 2 week holiday, which wasn't ideal because if there were any problems, there wasn't really any time left to arrange anything else. Some wanted them to get married within 2 days of landing which again, wasn't ideal.

A package is probably a good idea as they arrange the venue (usually the hotel you are staying in!) the minister, photographer, cake etc. You can arrange it on your own but I wouldn't fancy it!!

You need to check that the marriage will be legal here too as a friend of a fried got married on a package somewhere on an island had all the paperwork but it was never registered here. In fact they weren't legally married.

I'd double check the country's consulate web site and find out the critera needed for 2 foreign nationals to marry
