I am going on a big holiday and will be taking quite a bit of money with me.,I usually take Travellers Cheques. However, last time I went,I saw a lady pay for some in-flight duty-free with what looked like a traveller cheque ,(she was given change in cash.).
I am sure it said American Express ,(not 100 percent sure,) on it as I was sat next to her, could not help noticing this.

Can anyone enlighten me about this, this I think would be much more convenient than having to go and cash Travellers Cheques.

I'm slightly confused by the question. It reads like you saw an American Express Travellers Cheque.

thats what happens with travellers cheques! Not only can you change them into money, you can pay for things with them (and indeed get change). Especially in america. For example, you can go into a shop and buy a jumper with a travellers cheque
