There are too many people pretending to be someone they are not these days. It can become quite scary. You have to beware in all walks of life, not just on the net.
:-(
I first got talking to my BF on the internet - not Facebook (or Answerbank I hasten to add !). Obviously it's a risk - but so is meeting anyone these days.
First meeting I was very careful - kept to public places, told friends where I was, (phone updates in the ladies loo). Unfortunately there are maniacs & potential murderers in all walks of life - not just on the internet.
I've met quite a few people off dating sites. But if you employ a bit of common sense it helps protect you. The internet is no more full of weirdos than real life. In fact one of the WORST experiences I have ever had was with a man who I met through a friend of mine.
Yeah, that's why I said " I can see why some people would want to".
Common sense certainly is the key salla & Barmaid, on & off the internet!
It's just a shame that there are so many gullible & velnerable young girls & boys out there, who may pretend they are older, just to to find 'love'.....then again their parents should be more aware of what they get up to - not always easy....
I have read the article but it doesn't actually say she met him online, it says she joined dating sites, and so did he, and he made contacts thru the sites, but it does not say they met on one, he lived 500 yards from her
