when we re-newed my wife's passport back in 1997 we put both our kids on it too.

my question is now they are obviously quite a bit older(12 & 16) they need to travel without her ie school hols etc etc

can they do this on this passport or do we now have to apply for their own individual passports ?

thx

They can't travel without the passport holder, therefore it is best for them to get their own passports. I think you can still get 5 year ones, which would be better as they are still 'growing up' and their appearance will change over the usual 10 year passport.

cheers
Everyone needs their own passport now - even new born babies - they would not be able to travel on the existing passport, even if their mother was with them

they need to get their own passports and your wife needs to send her passport off with the forms to get the childrens names removed

sequin is right - everyone needs their own passports now
if travelling with a school group the school usually arranges for a group passport with travelling childrens names on it. In this case you have to do nothing. The passport can stay at home.

They can continue to travel with the passport holder until the age of 16 when they will each need their own.

I was reading this information only yesterday, it came along with my newly renewed passport which took only a week to arrive!

Additional people have never been able to travel without the passport holder, which used to cause much annoyance when people had "joint" passports and wrongly expected it to apply to either spouse! All new passports as has been stated are now individual.
