I wonder if it is meant to create a kind of mundane routine for people who stay at home to make them feel they are in a comfort zone. Or is it just lazy programming?

I am at home all day and got to say I turn the tv on for the news if I've missed the radio or want to hear abit more.Sometimes for Loose Women if my daughter is here and very occasionally for a film or the history channel.

You're right it is full of JK type programmes or antiques or relocating.

Some poeple leave their tv on for the noise though
It's a deliberate ploy to ensure that as few people as possible remain at home in the daytime. I've had a broken ankle recently and I'm still at home unable to travel independently and it's driving me crazy. I make sure that I have a selection of good books to read, sudoku, AB, my ipod but I'm bored and need to get back to work. See, it's working.
