I never do this but I have a window betweeen 3 April 2009 and 13 April 2009 at a push -for a weekend /weekday break in Iceland for 3 nights

My son and i are flexibe between those dates but i am struggling as when I went in Oct we got a weekend package all in in for �149 Glasgow to Reykjavik (or as nr as damn it lol)

Im not being lazy as I have tried Icelandair who we went with before but i think i pretty useless at booking to be honest -everything seems extortionte really it should be the same given their econnomy

Cn you help me please -it would Glasgow -to Reykjavik -mid week or weekend would be fine ive been ages and im going round in the same circle.

your flights will still be expensive as the price of fuel hasn't gone down all that much and the taxes haven't either. But accommodation should be cheaper and so should anything you buy there, including food.

Sorry, that doesn't really answer your question. Most of the packages I've found are much dearer than that but are based on London flights.

What a scunner os that was only in November we wen out for that price but I see where you are coming from. -I thought we could still jump on the band wagon -ell it is dog eat gog at the moment lol.

The Glasgow Airport website states that Icelandair is the only operator on that route. (I'll give you the link since it might help suggest alternative destinations if you decide that Iceland is too pricey):

The 12th of April is Easter Sunday, so anything around that date is likely to be particularly expensive. There seems to be nothing within your window for less than �400 return.

I'm sorry, but if you want to go away cheaply you'll have to change your destination. Paris is a possibility (around �110 return departing on 4th April) or Berlin (around �100 return departing on 4th April). Both of those are with easyJet.

If you're prepared to fly from Prestwick there are loads more possibilities with Ryanair. (e.g. Girona for around �83 return, departing on 5th April ; Krakow for around �52 return, departing on 4th April ; Gothenburg for around �21 return, departing on 9th April).

To the best of my knowledge, Icelandair will not be flying between Glasgow and Iceland for the foreseeable future, save perhaps over Easter itself and/or the odd special event flight. This is at least up to August. As a result, any attempt to book Glasgow-Keflavik will result in multiple flights to make the connections through and back. I think there is an intention to fly Manchester-Keflavik but I have not looked into which days and whether operational yet - Manchester to Iceland is to cost more than Heathrow to Iceland (figure that one out). Again, to the best of my knowledge, Icelandair are the only operator between UK and Iceland apart from Iceland Express from London (soon to be or perhaps already moved from Stansted to Gatwick). This is a pain for anyone who wants to go to Iceland and lives outside easy reach of London (or Manchester). The car ferry service from north Scotland (previously Scrabster) is also suspended.

Yikes -thanks for that Karl -that would explain the hike in prices then -what a shame -such a beautiful country which i so wanted to share with my son.
