Evedawn, all you need is a small bowl or container that you fill with beer to a depth of about 2inches of beer. Slugs and snails love it and drown in it . In the garden i usually use a cut down pop bottle, sometimes in a hole in the flower bed, other times free standing. I would think a medium sized margarine tub would be best in the house. You can empty it down the loo or chuck the whole thing out. If you put it near where you think they are coming from you will have more success.
The advanage of them is that it will do no harm to pets if they do dring the beer, other than being a bit tipsy lol. And you can pick the containers up in the morning so any toddlers dont help themselves (slugs seem to move around mostly in the dark)
You can buy beer traps from garden centres but I would make my own.
Ps my slugs dont go for lager and prefer ordinary bitter,if you have friends who go down to the pub ask for some of the dregs that are left over
Good luck, as I said I hate the slimy creatures
