Can anyone give a technical explanation why half of JK's face appears to be paralysed? Was he born like that or did he suffer some sort of trauma?

The story goes that at his birth his midwife was a psychic who foretold the future and seeing the preving things this lad would be upto smacked the placenta against the side of his face. Eversince he has this what is known as 'placental slapped face'.
