Yes but we were not married. I am single so that obviously worked out well... ;0)

Actually in all fairness, the singleness was my (second) choice and I think RELATE did as much as they good but ultimately some things aren't meant to be. Other people I know have used them and have had far better results.
a mate of mine had an affair with a relate counsellor........lol
We did in 1985 when I left my husband and took the children with me, we went one evening a week and he made a donation after each visit. I found out an awful lot about his childhood from the sessions and it explained alot.
I was amazed at how the counsellor was able to get him to say so much, he used to go for days without much more than a grunt! I was always chatty and it would be so annoying!
We were only apart about 4 months, he moved in with me in my new place and we carried on, had another son and the marriage lasted another 10 years. well, not lasted exactly i suppose, the last year or so we were very much destined to separate.

Well, I have never had experience of Relate, but I must say that I am not enthusiastic about the results of ANY counseling.

stovemaveric.....was the affair, the result of the consultation? LOL

There was a nurse in the hospital who had been married twice and was known as the "local bike" and we found out some years later that she was a Relate councillor. LOL
sign of the times i know, but when we went it was still called the marriage guidance council and the woman we saw each week was a 'Miss'
i went to a councellor once at university. but only so I could back up the whole 'im depressed' story so I could get away with lack of coursework etc. worked out quite well. I ended up sleeping with the councilor also. she was 10 years older than me
I had relate counselling even though I knew in my heart that my marriage was over. my husband refused to go, so I went on my own. it was incredibly helpful and made me feel I was doing the right thing.

it gave me a wake up call to many relationship issues.
