I am planning to wear a big hat for my daughter's wedding soon but don't know how to wear my shoulder length hair. I was hoping for a french pleat but I think thhat's going to be a bit bulky. I want to wear it up/off my shoulders. Any ideas??

Have you thought of wearing your hair in a chignon. You could get your hairdresser to try it for you, well before the big day. A chignon would not detract from the hat. The thing to watch with a big hat is that it needs to be angled properly so that it doesn't throw a shadow on your face. As mother of the bride you will want to look your best on the photographs, and a shadow on your face from the hat would spoil the effect. Hope you have a lovely day at the wedding.
French plaiting wouldn't be bulky if your hair's just shoulder length, and your hair'd still look nice later on. Enjoy the day.
