I can't really help with the answer, but perhaps if you clarify which guitar, then others may be able to help.  Also if you want to be in a band, do session work, or a teacher?  Good luck though.  :-)

Learn some chords for a start. Em is the easiest.

Then join a guitar class or get private tuition in your field country/rock/jazz/classical.  If you are going classical then you will need to take the grades and maybe join a music school/college.  Following on from the lessons etc, you might want to look at ads in NME / Melody Maker or Loot to join a band or become a session guitarist, then with talent and some luck you may get the opportuntiy to turn professional.
