Events in the Year you were Born

I am trying to compile some stuff on significant events in the year I was born - 1975.  Firstly, if you were doing this, what historical events would you want to include?  Secondly, does anyone know of any good resources for finding this sort of thing out?  I've found a couple through googling but they are mostly US sites.  Cheers all!

Try Chronicle of the 20th Century (Longman), which gives a page per month of newpaper stories.  Assuming you are in the UK, this should be in your local library or I have seen this in 'remainder' type shops.  What events to include? From your US sites you will have seen that 1975 saw the end of the Vietnam War.  The headline for December is "International Terrorists Hold Europe to Ransom", but the government didn't think we needed id cards!  My personal memories were the impact of inflation running in excess of 25%.  I remember getting a cost of living increase on my salary of 30% before the government imposed a limit!!

I got married as well.

I was given one this year for my anniversary.

In all truth we don't do much in the way of celebrating - our life together is big celebration (oh lawd I can hear you cry).  When is the pearl anniversary? I'll just get another box of Red Nestles chox (I hate 'em hubby loves 'em) says it all really.
