Nobody answered this in Home & Garden so trying the CB lot :-
I have a pair of Philips cordless phones, about a year old, and on the main phone the transformer is roasting hot all the time. It really worries me, is this supposed to happen?
It has to be plugged in permanently as its my house phone and I cant swap them over as the fitting size is different on phone 2. The transformer on the 2nd phone is cool.
Thanks for any advice.

If this is the case, after an initial charge of about 16 hours from new you should be able to turn it off and still use it for a while before re-charging.
Have a look in the instruction manual.
It shouldn't get red hot :-S
