Need Song Title
I am look for the title of a mostly instrumental song from the 60s or early 70s, where one instrument was added at a time. The only lyrics indicated who was playing the instrument. For example (as to form), "and on **** we have Chairman Mao . . ."

I think you are right, Bonzo Dog Band.
This was a micky take of Tubular Bells where each instrument is anounced in turn.
You can hear it here, a minute or so in:

For those that do not know him Vivian Stanshall was one the THE great British comedians and eccentrics.
Some of his vocals for the Bonzos were just hilarious, the group were very "Monty Python" like.
Here is a clip showing how "mad" the Bonzos were and how funny Vivian was

In fact there is a strong link between the Monty Pythom team and the Bonzos.
Before they formed Monty Python three of the team created a TV show called "Do Not Adjust Your Set" which had a Python feel about it.
It starred Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Eric Idle (David Jason of "Only fools and horses" fame was also in it).
The musical guests each week were the Bonzos, whose "crazy" music fitted in nicely with the zany style of the show.
Of course one of the Bonzo's was Neil Innes who went on to work with the Pythons and was in some of their films and appeared live with them.
I am old enough to remember watching this when I was a teenager (and went on to watch Python as well).
In fact here is a clip from Do Not Adjust Your Set which features the Bonzos as well as the three "Python" members (and Jason).

Thank you all so very much! You are correct and with so little to go on. I even forgot to mention that the song had the feel of Tubular Bells and Popcorn. This lack of memory had been bothering me for months and all my on-line searches failed to produce anything.
Your other information is also appreciated giving me background I was not aware of. I really enjoyed watching Monty Python as a teen on late night PBS. I will need to check out Do Not Adjust Your Set.
Thanks again to all.

Note that "Do not adjust your set" was on childrens TV here in the UK (the period betwen about 4pm and 6pm when kids had come home from school but before dinner).
While I enjoyed it at the time it has probably dated very badly.
In fact having had a look when it was on I was 17 and 18 years old but still enjoyed it, I guess it was a "grown up" childrens TV show.
