Did/Does anyone get stressed at work whilst pregnant?
Hey,
General question but does/did anyone get really stressed at work whilst being pregnant?
My job is highly stressful & target driven at the best of times & I'm 14 weeks pregnant & finding it tough. Is it Okay to be stressed whilst pregnant?
My partner has asked me to leave as I come home absolutely exhausted but financially I'd be silly to miss out on my maternity pay. What do you all think? x

Fortunately, I work in a laid back environment . I'm 23+4 weeks now and getting bigger by the day, I do find I get a bit achey, as there is alot of standing and walking around involved, but if I feel I need a sit down, I just slope off to the changing rooms for a few minutes.
I would say try to stick with your job, your maternity leave will come around quickly and then you'll be able to concentrate on your little bundle of joy.

I worked in a college and found out after only a coulpe of days there that I was pregnant. I had also just started a uni couurse. I was working with young adults who are disabled and could be aggressive. This was stressful, I used to come home so exhausted I just used to sit and not speak or do anything sometimes it was very upsetting too.
I had to carry on working, but posponed my course and reduced my hours at work. I took two afternoons off a week. Is that a possibility for you? I found that it really helped and I used to really look forward to my time off!
Or could you ask to be reassigned so that you're doing something where nutters aren't having a go at you all day.
Hope you're having a better day today, I know its very easy for me to say but you need to try to not take it personally, the customers don't really mean it and it's not your fault. It's just a job. I know its tough though, I used to do cold calling about mortgages!
Take care, you'll be on maternity leave before you know it! x

Although my job is not particularly stressful, I do deal with very intense cases and confidential matters that can be quite disturbing at times, I work closely with the police and social services.
It's not really in my nature to get stressed out by things so I guess I can't really help there, but what I did find during pregnancy was that things come and go. Some days I would feel so tired I didn't think I would make it though the day, at around 6months my back was so painful I didn't think i would make it to the 39weeks that I worked to, but I did. What would niggle one week didn't the next, you might find this week stressful but next week a breeze. I would stick it out at work, but it's in my nature to be a stubborn git that refuses to let go!
Assuming you have to go back to your job after you have had the baby you will be facing even more stresses then, so I would think it would be healthier to tackle your stress issues, and how to handle it, rather than leaving your job.

Thank you all for you advice & experiences. I don't get stressed to the point my blood is boiling (I think stressed is the wrong word) I get burnt out, tierd & wonder how I can keep going.
To be honest some days are worse than others so I've decided to stay here until my maternity & not return. I'm going to work part time & with this job you can't work part time. They say with cash collection you do eventually get burnt out (pregnant or not) so I guess it's just my time is nearly done.
Again thanks every one, you've really helped x
