Hello, I have been out of work for 10 months and have been told I can claim Job Seekers Allowance. Today I have been offered some work for 2 days a week, total of 3 hours work a week. I would earn approx 18.00 per week. The job I would be doing is not something I want to do in the long term, just something to do for some money before I can get a full time job in the industry where I worked before.. Could you tell me if I will be allowed to do this work whilst claiming JSA? Thank You Susan

you can do the work but you have to declare it when you sign on. your benefit will be reduced but it won't stop.

if you don't, bear in mind that you're signing a declaration to say, "I have done no work, paid or unpaid".
You can work up to 16hrs per week and still get job seekers allowance but i think they deduct want you earn from the job seekers allowance amount from what i can remember.
they will disregard a small amount depending on your circumstances.. if you're single I think it's 5, so 13 would be deducted from your benefit.

a fact is a fact, spermatid.
unfortuantely, as stated, you will not earn any extra money, because they deduct it from your benefit....
