Ta very much guys.

I wondered if 3d could be a Wallace & Gromit character because of the reference to 'A Grand Day Out' ?
I was toying with a grand being a thousand and the possibility of 'thou' being a short form. I don't see the rest of the wordplay though! I'm stuck on 6d. Tribal art's customised quickly for global designer(14) S?A?T?B?R?F?S?. I think its an anagram of the first two words + 'fast' but can't see it. Any advice?
6d Slartibartfast ...'Guide to the Galaxy' * tribals art +fast
How's this for 3d:

"stop-motions most often seen character" = O (more "o"'s in "stop motion" than any other letter); day = THU, so TH(O)U = "a grand"
Thanks kayakamina
