CAT c/D cars

I am thinking of buying a CAT C/D damaged repairable car. The car drives etc. the damage is to the passanger front and rear doors, its a 06 alfa. But does this mean that I can use the car (insured and taxed of course) and wait to repair the car at a later date?

If the damage has been notified, ie by an insurance company or the police to DVLA, then it will have to be examined by VOSA, once repaired.
