If you are ever on the M40 near Stokenchurch take a look upwards. Normal to see twenty or thirty red kites. They have spread far and wide from the Chiltern Release program- seen them down near Newbury, up near Oxford, Reading, as far east as Luton- I would think all the South of England ones are offspring from that program.
Old Winchester Hill is a pretty nice place- been there a few times as my missus originates from Fareham. Little Egrets are getting pretty widespread now- seen them in Cornwall, Devon, Hampshire, Norfolk, Oxfordshire and Kent to name a few.
