service history

I'm selling my car but it doesn't have proof of a service history, would this cause a problem? Its a P reg clio with 52,000 miles on the clock, I'm only asking for a grand, is this too much do ya think?

As long as you ahve a few old MOT's and some bills to say brakes have been done or oil has been added etc you should be fine.

If you haven't got any of that they may well beat you down so I suggest getting the minimum service on it both for your peace of mind and the potential buyers too.

Don't want to be selling a car on which the brakes fail after a week now do we, it's highly illeagal.

Sorry mdoo98 but some of us idiots seem to think that a service will show us that the car has been looked after and has not had the same lardy oil and antifreeze in it for the last 52,000 miles and the brakes are so badly worn they're down to the bare metal and a shaving of 'pad' .

Anyway not many people are gonna beat prices down if it's offered for a grand.

I've been looking around loads for the past month for small cars of that sort of age...from what I've seen that seems a very reasonable price, unless the car is in poor condition! I don't think you'll have too many problems selling it.

Thanks everyone for your help, I managed to sell it for �900 last night and the service history was never questioned! Relief!!
