Can anyone help a friend of mine with a problem with the alarm on a Ford S Max:

" I have it as a replacement car for a few days whilst mine is at the doctors getting a new fuel pump.

I do not seem to be able to set the alarm so that movement inside does not set it off. In the manual it says to just press the key alarm once which only locks
the outside of the car and twice to secure the inside as well. I have tried this with son sitting in the car waving his arms about and the alarm is going off all the time."

Her problem is that she has dogs, and has to leave then in the car between dog training lessons and they are setting the alarm off. She does not want to leave it without the alarm set, because of either the car or dogs being stolen!

Take a look at the Alarm section in the hand book. You need to set the Alarm to "Reduced Guard" in the Alarm part of the S-Max�s in dash menu system. This will disable the interior sensors. (But only until the next time you start the car - at which point it reverts to "Full Guard")

There is also an "Ask on Exit" option that will ask which Alarm mode to use each time you turn off the ignition.

A single press on the remote button means that the locks are not double locked i.e. the interior handles still open the doors. This makes no difference to the Alarm mode. (Single locking is also recommended if you are leaving kids or pets in the car as it makes it easier to gain access in an emergency)
