Coloured Screen of Life (Not a question)
Just in case anyone's interested, I fixed my white screen of death problem, by preventing Asus aaCenter.exe (which is something to do with ACPI) from running.
Pity I'd already ordered a new motherboard...

but well spotted ... how did you come up with that pearl?
(and why did it "just start"?)
on a more practical note ... even if you can't stop delivery ... you should be able to return it unopened ... ??
local supplier ... or coming from half way round the world?
what can I say? ... sorry for the bum steer ....

Hardly your fault Ac. I'd come to the same conclusion myself.
But (this being a Greek Island) everything takes days to arrive (and longer if the weather's bad - no planes or ships).
So, as I was kicking my heels anyway, I just kept gnawing away at it, disabling one thing at a time and restarting. I couldn't even find where this gets loaded, so in the end I just renamed its folder.
Anyway, as I said, everything takes days to get here, and as you may remember, we have terrible problems with the power, the phones and the lightning, so it can't be a bad thing to have a spare (I've got 3 spare ISDN ADSL filters in my cupboard - I bought 5, but two have been destroyed already).

Pfffft... thanks, just blame me when I'm not around :(
Glad you got it sorted rojash, though also curious as to what made it start suddenly! guess nobody will ever know though.
Thats one of the reasons why I really don't like manufacturers installs, they always seem to install there own software to deal with things like ACPI that just cause problems!! (god I'm fed up of removing the HP security/login stuff from our company laptops) If I have time I always do a fresh install from a proper MS disk even on brand new stuff before deploying it.
But I will log that fault in my head in case I encounter it again, thanks for posting the fix.
