Reg cert or log book change
I want to transfer the reg cert (log book) on our car from mine to my husband's name. Can I just do change of name (eg from Mrs Fran to Mr Frank and let them think I've had a sex change!) or do we have to go through the whole transfer process as if I've sold it to him?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.you have to change the logbook by taking it to the local ofice, thus putting on another owner which is a shame!,by the way if you aredoing this for insurance purposes then be aware that you are entitled to insure a vehicle that does not belong to you,eg if your husband wants to insure the vehicle it can still be in your name but i'd run it by your insurance company first,as although the registered keeper is not necessarily the legal owner,in event of an accident they could well try to wriggle out of paying out as afer all they really are to$$ers through and through!

I am doing this for insurance purposes, its 100 cheaper for husband so thought best to transfer the car as well as the insurance. There is a change of name section on the logbook where I could just put Frank as opposed to Fran even though they are only used to it being used for change or surname. Wonder what people thought?
