Hassle from a debt agency

For the past 2 years i have been receiving phone calls (im ex directory) and letters off a debt agency trying to recall money they say I owe, in between the 2 years it has been passed to 2 other companys to whom have hassled me over the phone also.

I am getting so sick of it and it is causing me stress because I dont owe anything, what legal advice can any one give me because they wont leave me alone.

Have you asked for a statement showing the amount and what it is for? It could be a mistake but often the debt is a genuine amount owing that has been overlooked , or it could be somebody used your identity.
Also, check your Experian record and see if it's on there

The debt agency, it's not called Ruthbridge by any chance........there was a big thing on Watchdog about this company chasing people with threatening letters etc even though the people didn't owe anything.....look on the watchdog website

basically it is a debt from vigin media which got wrote off because they made a huge mistake i have contacted virgin and they said they would contact the debt agency so i wouldnt get any more hassle, but yet im still getting hassle.

I am witing to hear from virgin again now to solve this problem
