allegedly most of those in the vatican are 'priceless'. i know that they're not insured because there's not enough money for anyone to be able to pay out if they were damaged.

I think that many famous paintings, i'e: Munch 'the scream' would be nigh on impossible to sell on't open market because they're simply too well known. Therefore, when you hear about high profile art theft it is usually perpetuated for private collectors who simply hoard the works in vaults or private, private collections, which is disgraceful.

A good example of this would be Matisse's 'The joy of life', which although was not stolen, was denied to the public for years by a private collector and wierdo, who wouldn't put the work on display and only allowed black and white photos of it to be distributed because most people were not 'worthy' of viewing it. It makes my blood boil!
