Loof back a few days in AB obo and see the discussion on What Quiz!

Hi Tallulah,

I am not to sure what you would want me do by looking at the discussion as it is surely up to each individual to ask or answer as they see fit. I am a very uneducated and not very clever individual, but I get a lot of self satisfaction in doing crosswords and quizzes. I use a dictionary to help me complete a crossword and do not feel any less good within myself by doing so as my goal is to complete. Similarly with quizzes, I use the internet for the majority of my answers, and forums and answerbank are part of the internet, and like I said earlier it is each individuals choice on whether to answer.

Many Many Thanks for your reply, which as yet I have no idea what you mean by 'Invisible Ink', but I shall persevere until the deadline this week end.
Can I direct you to http/www.iqagb.co.uk You might find someone willing to pm you with hints. The site does not allow direct answers so tends not to annoy anyone.
Go to the site and follow the forums link to prize quizzes. Good luck and if it is any consolation I am still struggling with 76 as well.
oblongata - you say you get a lot of self satisfaction from doing crosswords and quizzes. Bearing that in mind, can you tell us what satisfaction you get from asking someone else to answer a question for you please? I find it hard to see how you can say the former and then ask for help?

The previous discussion refers to forums/answer sites that freely give away answers and therefore ruin quizzes. Every time someone asks for an answer, the quiz concerned degenerates more and more towards becoming a lottery - which results in many people deserting the quiz and in some cases the quiz ceasing.

As I stated before, I am not very well educated and the little knowledge I got was self taught, however I am sure I am like most people in that whatever you do you wish to do it well and complete it, and, repeating myself yet again I get a lot of satisfaction in getting it complete. You obviously have a different angle on waht satisfies yourself, and I am ok with that no matter wahtever it is as long as it is leglal.
If you care to read my question, you shall observe that I never asked for an answer, perhaps you just missed that point. I guess if I was as smart as you I would not have to ask for help, but then we are not all blessed with an over abundance of learning and understanding.
As for quizzes going under, I have been doing two separate quizzes for over 10 years and both are still going strong. May I add both are non prize quizzes. I have only just started doing the Whatquiz this year and fully enjoy it even though I got under eighty correct last month. I do not do it to win money, which seems to be the driver for most of the objections to any assistance requested, which really highlights to me the real greed that some of our society are blighted with, rather than the help and compassion that is more prevalent, for which I am truly grateful, as that in my humble opinion makes for a wholly better community

Best Of luck to you all

Obo
No time to read all this stuff.
I meant you hadn't posted the pic!
I also noticed a couple of days ago there was a message from Beverley who sets What Quiz and that you might find it interesting.
I don't do this quiz. It's too expensive to see people asking for answers on AB and getting them.
Someone might give you the link.
oblongata - I too like to do things well, but I also like it to be my own hard work. Yes, I use my own knowledge, reference books and the internet. I have never professed to be intelligent-but my parents always taught me that you learn nothing by being given an answer. There is a great difference between entering search criteria in google and finding a website to find the answer and going to a forum/answer site to get someone else to give you the answer.

If I can't find an answer, I'll have a guess or leave a blank space (there's a novelty) and I'll learn from my mistakes when I get the answers back. I've just completed the Macmillan quiz and left blank spaces for many of the pictures, simply because my own endeavours couldn't produce an answer. I get no satisfaction from someone else telling me the answer - where's the learning in that?

I am not in it for the prize money, the majority of quizzes I enter are for charity and the prizes are not life changing, but these quizzes are ruined by answers being freely given away.
