Can anyone give me a clue to this answer please;

I have an idea but cannot seem to make it fit all of the criteria.

I think it may have something to do with universities, when there were first set up.
Hanover 1769, Dartmouth college was founded in New Hampshire.
Moscow 1889, University of Idaho.
Durham 1866, Uni. of New Hampshire
Athens 1785, Georgia.
That is a s far as I've have got. Hope it helps
