Cabbage

Can anyone suggest how I can serve cabbage ie what herbs or spices can I use. I don't like butter by the way. I usually use cabbage in a recipe but never just cooked it on it's own.

4-6 Italian sausages - cut in bite size pieces
6-8 small red potatoes, quartered
1 onion, chopped
1 head of shredded cabbage
In a deep pan, place sausages around the edge with potatoes and onions in the middle. Salt and pepper to taste. Place the cabbage on top, drizzle with olive oil. Add about 1/2 cup water. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. This will cook without scorching or burning so it's easy and makes clean up a breeze since it is all done in one pan.
Enjoy :)

Fry a couple of slices of bacon. Remove and crumble bacon. Add one chopped onion & saute'. Add chopped or shredded cabbage w/ salt & pepper. Stir to coat the cabbage with the bacon drippngs and add about 1/4 cup water. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. Steam for about 5-10 minutes or until desired tenderness of cabbage. Sprinkle crumbled bacon when served. Very good!
Well all these sound delicious and I usually do cook bacon with cabbage but for last night's meal just wanted the cabbage as we were having fish. Ended up just adding the black pepper. Tonight' I'll be doing the bubble & squeak (well the squeak cos the bubble was done last night) to use up the rest of what was left!
