What does (Y) and (N) mean when people put it on facebook....i thought yes and no but this doesn't make sense in the context they were used in.

just peoples status and within wall posts etc

It's from MSN Messenger where (Y) is the code for a thumbs up icon and (N) is a thumbs down icon. I think people have started using them outside of MSN in text form, and just assuming that other MSN users will understand them!
